#6 The Year 2050 Project: 3 waves of gay

Daily Vlog #6

This one is part of "The Year 2050 Project" -- where I tell the 75-year-old me what life was like back in 2007.  In this posting, tell myself about gay eras past, present, and future.  I also include photos and an interview with actor Gideon Glick from the new play Speech and Debate, a production of Roundabout Underground.

#1 Question Questioning: Lance Bass

Bellini Alert #1

My very first "Bellini Alert" is a "Question Questioning" segment (there'll be a handful of regular segments in this series).  I question the questions I asked Lance Bass when I interviewed him for CBS News on Logo

The most important issue for 2008 voters (according to the Onion News Network)

Poll: Bullshit Is Most Important Issue For 2008 Voters

This is the funniest thing I've seen in quite sometime.

The Frank Rebuttal

Ngltf_logo This afternoon I interviewed Matt Foreman, the executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.  If you watched my interview with Congressman Barney Frank, you already know that the openly-gay congressman is openly and aggressively firing back at gay rights leaders who only support an ENDA bill that includes transgender protection.  I asked Foreman to answer Frank's criticism and explain why a coalition of over 300 LGBT organizations across the country have signed on to fight for a Trans inclusive ENDA.

The BIG Challenge

I teased my "big challenge" earlier this week.

So, here's the deal:  Monday I begin posting a new, daily web show called "Bellini Alert".  (That's the best name I could come up with;  the name may change if I come up with something better.)

This venture is inspired by a man named Zefrank who, for one year, did a short video program called "The Show".  He's a comic, philosopher, thinker, and all-around intriguing guy who, rain or shine, in sickness and in health, no matter how busy he was, managed to turn out his show five days per week.

I'm going to attempt to do the same.  Writing, shooting, editing these things takes time.  But I'm determined to do this.

So, check back Monday for episode number one of "Bellini Alert" (unless I think of a better name for it over the weekend).

Adam, thanks for asking!

Very Frank

This is my interview with Congressman Barney Frank from today concerning ENDA, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.  The openly-gay congressman finds himself in a somewhat ugly rift right now with some of the country's most prominent gay rights organizations and their leaders.

It's over his decision to push for passage of ENDA  legislation without the inclusion of protection for transgender people.  Frank says that there wouldn't be enough support in Congress to pass ENDA if it were to include transgender protection.

Congressman Frank tells CBS News on Logo that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will call for a vote by the full House of Representatives on an amendment to ENDA that would add transgender protection.  Frank says he's nearly certain the amendment won't pass.  Speaker Pelosi has already promised to bring a second bill, the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act (GENDA), to a full House vote.

I'm posting this long version of my interview with Congressman Barney Frank on my blog because I think people interested in this controversy may appreciate hearing his comments.

He is NOT the ONLY person we interviewed for our coverage for Logo.  You'll hear the points of view of several prominent gay rights activists in our report on-air and online.  When I'm able to, I'll post that report as well.

Having a blog like this one allows us to offer materials (like this interview) to supplement our coverage.  This official-sounding disclaimer is my way of asking that you not interpret, by my posting of this interview, that I'm taking sides in this debate.

Thanks!
