Tammy Faye's Kid Preaches to Hipsters!

What Would Jay Bakker Do? Keep on spreadin' The Word.
I know you’ve been thinking to yourself lately, “Hnmmm... Wonder what’s up with Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker’s son Jay (formerly known as Jamie)? Ya know, the little tattooed guy who’s all pierced and rock ‘n’ roll and loves his crazy folks and is like this little Christian rocker dude?” Well, worry no more...
In this week’s New York Magazine you’ll learn that Jay’s alive and well in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, leading weekly church sessions at Pete’s Candy Store (which fyi, is a hipster music venue that usually sees shows by emerging indie bands/artists like The Ballet or Clint Michigan or Scott Matthew; Jay leads church on Sundays at 4pm). Turns out Jay’s still a nice guy and in the interview talks about his mom (She’s not well! She’s got inoperable lung cancer. Pray, y’all!), her gay following and what it’s like to feel disenfranchised by the Christian establishment, especially the Right Wing.
Jay’s also got a documentary/reality series coming on the Sundance Channel (produced by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato at World of Wonder; they made The Eyes of Tammy Faye) which is to be called One Punk, Under God. It’ll start airing in December.
So now you know.
