Just because I pretty much love anything that Julianne Moore does (especially her Oscar-nominated turn in the very gay Far From Heaven, made by her best pal/openly gay filmmaker Todd Haynes), here’s a pic that’s being used to promote her upcoming stint on Broadway in a new play by David Hare, The Vertical Hour. The play (Hare’s first ever to premiere on Broadway; he's also the author or Plenty, Racing Demon and Stuff Happens), will open on November 30th, with performances starting on November 9th. Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Broadway’s Cabaret) is directing.
In the play, Moore plays a war reporter turned Yale professor who goes on holiday with her boyfriend and gets entangled with “a kind of Englishman whose culture and background is a surprise and challenge, both to her and to her relationship.” That’s what the press release says, anyway. I just wanna see Moore exude her turbulent still power that’s blasted her brilliantly through films like Safe, Boogie Nights, Far From Heaven and The Hours). Go Jules!!!
