It's good to be queen. Dunst as Marie-Antoinette.
Check out Kirsten Dunst in these amazing photos from the forthcoming Sofia Coppola-directed film Marie-Antoinette. (It's due out on October 20th.) In it, that little girl we all knew as the ringlet-haired bloodsucking tyke from Interview with a Vampire has all grown up (via Jumanji, Little Women, ER, The Virgin Suicides, Bring It On and Spider-Man, among others). Yes, now she’s the queen of France, who before she gets her head lopped off, has a decadent romp around Versailles with her man, King Louis XVI (played by Jason Schwartzman).
Much has been said of the super-cool soundtrack of the film (which features the likes of New Wave/modern rock icons like Adam Ant, The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Bow Wow Wow) but judging from these pics below, I’m just looking forward to the sumptuous, gushy, visual richness of the film! Many scenes were actually filmed at Versailles… And it all looks amazing. Check it out!
Coppola's having a ball at Versailles.
Check out this on-set action! It's like a Fragonard-cotton candy fantasy gone wild!
And yes, I know that the film received a mixed reception at Cannes. Yes, folks booed. But some say that's just how they do things in France...
Black is the navy blue of... France?
I have to say I’m also intrigued by one of Ms. Dunst’s costars, Jamie Dornan (above with Dunst), who evidently stars as Count Axel von Fersen, who was a paramour of Marie Antoinette’s when they were both 16 (and later, perhaps). Von Fersen was a Swedish nobleman and was evidently later a lover of other fancy notable Euro women (like Hedvig Elisabeth Charlotta, who was married to the future King Charles XIII of Sweden).
Anyway, this is evidently the Belfast-born Jamie Dornan’s first movie gig, although he had been known as a romancer of Keira Knightley a couple of year back. He’s also modeled for Dior Homme and Calvin Klein, and is one-half of the band Sons of Jim. And he’s the great nephew of legendary screen actress Greer Garson.
That's Jamie Dornan hanging with Keira Knightley. They're not together anymore, fyi...
I’ve a feeling you be seeing much more of him in days to come…
Okay, you can have your cake now! Or just watch the preview online…
Au bientot, common people!
Did anyone other music freaks notice that the music playing at the beginning of the trailer is an Aphex Twin song from his "Drukqs" album - Ms. Coppola has the best taste in movie soundtracks (right up there next to Greg Araki)...can't wait for the movie!

I can't wait to see this movie. I suspect it's going to be really really good. The soundtrack is just too cool, it's as genius as Madonna in 18th century drag performing "Vogue."

Dunst is a horrible actress and surprised that Sofia could make her look so decent with clothes and makeup. She's going to ruin it for me. Love Schwarzman - such a good actor.

SO looking forward to this. I was just at Versailles, so :)
Also...any Dior Homme model is bound to be hot.
